When we think of Haute coture we think of 'high fashion', fashion houses specifically for an individuals body measurements a chic tailor made, hand crusted piece.

Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Dior spring to mind. These labels are still around which for us is a gratifying delight. However most of today's Hatue coutre is created to enhance the prestige of a label and most of it is rarely sold. However on the rise today are more and more high brand labels with strong influences of Hatue coture. Harajuku has been around since 1964. The fashionable trend is a mixture of rebellion, punk and cute fused with an eccentric feel.

The term 'harajuku' has become very popular and as seen the rise of many music artists using the trend harajuku. Gwen Stefani is a prime example her backing dancers were all harajuku.
